Sanmin, Kaohsiung · Strength training for office workers who sit a lot

Strength training classes in Kaohsiung for desk-bound office workers

Busy at work and sitting for hours — how can I fit training in?

When office workers ask about classes, what usually holds them back isn't which exercise to do — it's time and how to get started.

Beyoung Training is in the Wenshan Special District of Sanmin, Kaohsiung. The Free-Weight Group Class runs once a week, four sessions a month, 1 hour each, and you choose a fixed time slot when you sign up.

When office workers plan their training, the first thing is often how to make the time fixed. If you can reliably set aside one time slot a week right now, you can start with that frequency. What you train still depends on your experience, movement ability and recovery before we decide on a suitable plan.

Find your starting point first

Is it time that's holding you back, or the movements?

New to strength training

Movements still unfamiliar

Gripping the bar, squatting down and pulling weight up from the floor are still unfamiliar, and you need someone watching your movement first.

Trained before, but it's hard to stay consistent now

Know how to train, but can't fit it into life

What's in the way is work, overtime and life commitments, making it hard to keep training regular.

Keep your training time fixed

Why once a week at a fixed time fits more easily into working life

If work is already packed, start with once a week at a fixed time — you only need to protect one time slot. You don't have to find a gap every week or keep deciding whether to train today.

Free-Weight Group Class

How the group class works

The whole class follows a shared program focus that changes step by step across the cycle. Most students follow that week's shared version.

Stage 1

Box squat

Then

Gradually remove the box

After that

Other squat versions

By training cycle

進入下一階段

Individual adjustments when needed

Most students follow that week's shared version. We only adjust the range of motion, equipment or version when someone isn't ready for that version, can't do it steadily, or has other things to consider.

What you'll train

For people who sit a lot, it still comes back to the basic training patterns

Squat

Hip hinge

Upper-body push

Upper-body pull

Loaded carry

Sitting a lot affects your activity habits and how hard it feels to start training, but once you're in strength training, it still comes back to these basic patterns — there's no need for a separate set of "exercises for desk workers."

What evenings after work are really like

下班已經很累,還能不能訓練

Some people feel tired when they walk in, then realize after a few warm-up sets that they can actually train today. If you really aren't feeling well, we lower the weight and the number of sets.

You don't have to force yourself through the whole original plan.

Check whether it's a good fit first

Who this arrangement suits

Best suited to

You're willing to start from your current ability
You want training to stay a regular part of your life
You already have some training experience

You can start another way

Your schedule changes a lot from week to week
You're new to strength training
The main movements are still unfamiliar
You need more individual attention

The Free-Weight Group Class is currently designed mainly for adults aged 20–59. If you're 60 or over and just starting, you can begin with one-on-one so the coach can understand where you are now, then discuss next steps.

FAQ

Common questions before you start

For office workers, what's the difference between training at a gym on your own and taking classes?

The main difference is whether someone is watching your movement and helping plan your loads and progress. If you already know how to plan training and can go to the gym consistently, training on your own is fine. If the movements are still unfamiliar, or you have to decide every time whether to go, a fixed time slot and coach feedback usually make it easier to keep training. Both are fine — it depends on how much help you need right now.

Do people who sit a lot need to stretch first?

You don't need to complete a particular class before you can start. If a movement is limited, we adjust the range of motion, equipment or version.

Can I try one group class first?

We don't currently offer single trial group classes. If you'd like to see how the coach teaches first, you can start with a One-on-One Trial.
